TPS-System
In a so-called TPS system (Tracking Paint Supply), only the amount of paint required at the delivery points to be supplied is filled into the line intended for special colors (with a certain reserve). After filling with this amount, a pig is sent after this amount of paint. It is preferably supplied with compressed air and pushes the amount of paint over longer distances to the delivery points.
If necessary, the special paint line can be segmented with special valves in order to reach collection points arranged in a row one after the other. In this way, the paint advanced in the special paint line follows the workpiece to be painted in the painting line (tracking). After the workpiece has been painted at the last removal point, the amount of paint in the TPS line has been used up to a minimum.
Depending on the quantity or usability, this can either be returned to the paint container or disposed of. The line is then flushed. A TPS system is useful when the line to be filled is relatively long and its volume is much larger than the amount of paint available.
In this way, individual workpieces with a special color (including, for example, a non-recurring so-called tie color) can be effectively painted economically in a long painting line with many delivery points with only a small amount of paint to be filled.
